Lead Management

Organize, import, and manage your contact database with category-based lead management.

What are Leads?

Leads are the contacts you want to reach through email campaigns. Each lead has an email address and optional information like name, company, and custom variables for personalization.

Adding Leads

Upload via CSV

The fastest way to add multiple leads at once. Your CSV file should include:

  • email (required) - The contact's email address
  • firstName (optional) - Contact's first name
  • lastName (optional) - Contact's last name
  • company (optional) - Company name
  • Custom fields (optional) - Any additional data for personalization

email,firstName,lastName,company

[email protected],John,Doe,Acme Corp

[email protected],Jane,Smith,Tech Inc

When uploading, assign leads to a category for better organization.

Add Individual Leads

Manually add single leads through the "Add Lead" form. Useful for:

  • Adding leads from business cards or meetings
  • Quick one-off additions
  • Testing campaigns with specific contacts

Lead Categories

Categories help you organize leads by source, industry, campaign type, or any classification that makes sense for your business.

Category Examples

  • • "SaaS Companies" - Target software businesses
  • • "Conference Leads" - Contacts from industry events
  • • "Inbound Signups" - People who showed interest
  • • "Competitors" - Market research contacts

Benefits of using categories:

  • Bulk add entire categories to campaigns
  • Filter and search within specific categories
  • Track performance by lead source
  • Keep your database organized as it grows

Lead Status

Each lead has a status indicating their current state:

Active

Lead is available for campaigns and can receive emails

Unsubscribed

Lead opted out and will not receive any emails (cannot be overridden)

Bounced

Email address is invalid or unreachable (automatically marked after bounce)

Replied

Lead has responded to your campaign emails

Managing Leads

Edit Lead

Update lead information including name, company, category, or custom variables. Changes apply immediately to active campaigns.

Delete Lead

Permanently remove a lead from your database. This also removes them from all campaigns. Cannot be undone.

Bulk Delete

Select multiple leads and delete them at once. Useful for cleaning up your database or removing invalid contacts.

View Lead Details

Click on a lead to see their full profile, campaign history, email activity, and engagement metrics.

Blocklist Management

The blocklist prevents specific email addresses from receiving your campaigns, even if they're in your lead database.

Adding to Blocklist

Add emails manually or import from CSV. Blocked emails won't receive campaign emails but remain in your lead database.

Removing from Blocklist

Unblock emails if they should receive campaigns again. They'll be eligible for new campaigns immediately.

Checking Block Status

When viewing a lead, you can see if their email is blocklisted and why (manual block, unsubscribe, bounce, etc.).

Lead Quota

Your subscription plan determines how many leads you can store:

  • Free Trial: 50 leads
  • Starter Plan: 500 leads
  • Pro Plan: 25,000 leads
  • Large Scale: 100,000 leads
  • Enterprise: Unlimited leads

Approaching Limit

When you reach 80% of your lead quota, you'll see a warning. Delete unused leads or upgrade your plan to add more contacts.

Custom Variables

Add custom fields to leads for advanced personalization in your emails:

Example CSV with custom variables:

email,firstName,company,industry,painPoint

[email protected],John,Acme,SaaS,Lead Generation

Use {{industry}} or {{painPoint}} in your email templates to personalize messages based on these custom fields.

Best Practices

✓ Clean your lists regularly

Remove bounced emails and unsubscribed contacts to maintain good deliverability and sender reputation.

✓ Use categories strategically

Organize leads by characteristics that affect your messaging. This makes it easier to send targeted campaigns.

✓ Verify email addresses

Use an email verification service before uploading large lists. This reduces bounce rates and protects your sender reputation.

✓ Respect unsubscribes

Never manually re-activate unsubscribed leads. This violates anti-spam laws and damages your reputation.

Pro Tip

Include as much lead data as possible when uploading. The more you know about your contacts, the better you can personalize your outreach and improve response rates.
